Kaolack, January 11 (APS) – The annual Gamou (pilgrimage) of Taïba Niassène (center), a religious event commemorating the birth of Sheikh Al Islam El Hadji Ibrahima Niass, known as Baye Niass (1900-1975), will be held on January 18 next, we learned from the spokesperson for the Caliph General of Medina Baye, Cheikh Mouhamadoul Mahi Alioune Cissé.
“This religious event, which commemorates the birth of Baye Niass, must be an opportunity to return to the teachings of the holy Koran and the recommendations of the prophet of Islam, as taught by the guide of Faydatou Tidjania,” the guide said on Friday. religious Cissé, also imam of the Great Mosque of Medina Baye, during a press briefing organized as a prelude to this event.
On this occasion, he explained the meaning and importance of the annual Gamou of Taïba Niassene, the second most important religious event for the disciples of Faydatou Tidjania, a religious movement carried out at the baptismal font by El Hadji Ibrahima Niass.
»This Gamou will be celebrated under the aegis of the Caliph of Faydatou Tidjania, Cheikh Mouhamadoul Mahi Ibrahima Niass. It will also be a moment of devotion, of promoting good human behavior, of reading the Koran and of remembering the life and work of the founder of Medina Baye,” indicated the imam.
In view of the preparations for this religious event of international dimension, the deputy governor of Kaolack, in charge of development, Mamadou Habib Kamara, chaired, on December 23, a regional development committee (CRD) with the participation of officials from Organizing committee for Fayda events and activities (COMAF).
