The Sûreté du Québec (SQ) indicates that no less than 90 police officers are mobilized, including investigators from the regional mixed squad (ERM) and the tactical intervention group, to carry out firearms searches in a local of the Hells Angels of Trois-Rivières.
The searches took place in a residence, garages, outbuildings as well as vehicles, the police said. The property serves as a meeting place for the group of outlaw bikers, adds SQ spokesperson Éloïse Cossette.
When the police arrived on site, she said, there were 16 people and a man in his sixties was armed. This one was arrested.
Mme Cossette explains that this operation aims to seek evidence in relation to an investigation into firearms-related offenses, acts of violence using weapons and various criminal activities.
The police officer insists on the fact that Mauricie is not spared from “acts of violence and related to drug trafficking, as well as the context, which is rife in Quebec, of conflicts over royalties”. “The current investigation aims to put an end to the activities of people who engage in acts of violence,” she adds.
Still according to the SQ, Friday’s searches would also be linked to several episodes of violence during which there were shots and detonations heard on Rang Saint-Pierre, in Hérouville, in December 2023, in September 2024 and even as early as this beginning of 2025.
