The National Fisheries Office (ONP) reported a 12% increase in coastal and artisanal fishing landings at the port of Lamhiriz (Aousserd province) during the first eleven months of 2024. , to settle at 3,175 Tonnes (T), against 2,843 T at the same period a year earlier.
In its latest report on statistics on coastal and artisanal fishing in Morocco, the ONP specifies that the market value of these products however fell by 1% at the end of last November to stand at more than 72, 70 million dirhams (MDH), compared to 73.70 MDH for the same period of 2023.
By species, landings of pelagic fish at the port of Lamhiriz fell by 10% during the first eleven of 2024, to stand at 210 T (1.78 MDH), -12%), against 233 T (2.03 MDH) at the same period of 2023.
Catches of white fish increased by 30% to stand at 1,846 T (18.71 MDH, +22%) against 1,420 T (15.36 MDH).
Landings of cephalopods, for their part, fell by 8% to 1,025 T (44.02 MDH, -11%), against 1,115 T (49.39 MDH).
Regarding shellfish catches, they experienced an increase of 25% at the end of November 2024 to amount to 94 T (8.17 MDH), compared to 75 T (6.92 MDH).
At the national level, landings of marketed coastal and artisanal fishing products reached 1,233,568 T at the end of November 2024, down 1% compared to the same period a year earlier. In value, these landings recorded an increase of 6% to nearly 10 billion dirhams.
