That a person suffering from gender dysphoria can make a gender transition and live peacefully under their new identity, I am on board. However, when a person who has committed a crime suddenly begins to question their orientation, I pick up.
Could he find himself in the society of smart kids who, realizing that the sheet metal is becoming their inevitable destination, say to themselves that a prison for women would be less bad? And what are the criteria for access to a women’s prison?
In the case of a man (or let’s say a person with the physical characteristics of a man) who requests to serve his sentence in a women’s prison, on what basis is the acceptance or refusal decided? ? It’s far from clear…
From the circus to the court
The case of Mohamad Al Ballouz provides an opportunity for serious reflection. A jury sentenced him to life in prison before the holidays for the premeditated murder of his two children and their mother. During the trial, Al Ballouz presented himself as a woman (Levana Ballouz). He demanded, and obtained, that the judge and lawyers address him in the feminine form.
I’m guessing the judge didn’t question this request to solidify the trial’s conclusion. Let’s imagine that he was refused this, Ballouz would have rushed to appeal this “discrimination”. Under our Charter of Rights, how could a person be considered to have had a fair trial if the court did not even know how to respect the gender identity of their choice?

During the proceedings, Al Ballouz was incarcerated in a women’s prison. Obviously, he now wants the same treatment for his entire sentence, i.e. a minimum of 25 years. Prison authorities confirm that he is currently in a men’s prison while his case is assessed.
I know that the fashion in 2025 is to say that it is up to each individual to decide on their gender identity. This virtuous principle unfortunately leads to abuses and aberrations. In the case of prisons, let’s not be naive. Women’s prisons are not as harsh environments as men’s penitentiaries. Especially if you have the physical strength of a man, the risk of experiencing intimidation, physical or sexual violence is lower.
Manipulator
Until now, Mohamad Al Ballouz has shown a manipulative and cruel side towards the family of his victims. His plea at the end of the trial, where he ended by presenting himself as a good mother, cast untold discredit on any possibility of a healthy and sincere approach.
It is clear by now that he will make a transfer request and will use all available remedies to be transferred. I hope that a serious process with rigorous criteria will be followed. There’s a limit to letting a murderer laugh at the system. Him, and others.
