Glassware, flowers, plastics…

The list also contains products such as glassware, flowers and some plastics, a government source told the Globe and Mail and to CBC, while specifying that no final decision had yet been made.

According to the GlobeOttawa thus wishes to alert American business people to the additional costs that they would have to assume if Washington launched a trade war with Canada.

The federal government adopted a similar strategy in 2018, during Mr. Trump’s first presidential term. Heinz ketchup, American whiskey and orange juice were among the affected products.

American orange juice comes mainly from Florida, the Republican state where Donald Trump resides, while American steel is largely produced in Pennsylvania, the country’s most important key state.
