The mayor of Sainte-Marie, Gaétan Vachon, believes that 2025 will be “a very big year” for the municipality as he begins his 12th year at the head of the city.

Mr. Vachon notably stressed that the municipality would look into the new development of the Saint-Martin road this spring and that the new fire station will be delivered at the beginning of the summer.

We are in the process of rebuilding what we had as problems in 2019, the young people are entering a new school in January, Maribel 2.0. In March, work will begin on a new development on the other side of the highway on Route Saint-Martin. The fire station will be delivered in June or July. The town hall and library project is progressing, if all goes well, we will go out to tender in April, May or June. It’s a big year!

He also welcomed the transformation of Vachon Boulevard which is increasingly becoming a major commercial artery.

That’s perfect! This is a good indicator for our municipality. The more new businesses and new services arrive, it means that the city is evolving. There are needs and we are able to have a nice range of products without having to go to Quebec or Lévis, even if we will always go there. Overall, in recent years, there have been a lot of new banners that have been established. This means people can develop and buy locally. Gaétan Vachon, mayor of Sainte-Marie

Furthermore, Mr. Vachon indicated that the municipality was evaluating the capacity of its infrastructure for the future in order to ensure that it does not have to impose a moratorium on development, as the City of Lévis recently had to do.
