The SNB, which publishes its 2024 results on Thursday, had an extraordinary financial year. The annual profit of the monetary issuing institute should be between 77.5 and 82.5 billion francs, according to UBS calculations published on Monday. The National Bank achieved a profit of 62.5 billion in the first nine months of the year. In the fourth quarter alone, profit is expected between 15 and 20 billion.
An annual profit of around 80 billion francs is “completely exceptional”, underline the experts of the number one Swiss bank, assessing the potential gain for the SNB portfolio between 10 and 15 billion. This extraordinary result can be explained by the combination of three factors: the rise in the price of gold, the appreciation of the dollar against the franc, as well as the good performance of the stock markets.
