Jérémie Beyou, 4th in the Vendée Globe

Until the end, he had to hold on and resist the whims of Aeolus and Neptune who did not spare him. Jérémie Beyou completed his Vendée Globe after more than 74 days at sea, crossing the finish line in tough conditions with 2 meters of water. In the Indian Ocean, the Pacific, the South Atlantic then the North Atlantic, he will have faced complex weather situations. Despite several damages – breakage of his mainsail hook (December 21) then of his starboard foil jack rod (January 8) – Jérémie managed to stay in contact with the group of outsiders who fought a constant battle . On the Brazilian coast, the skipper of Charal took command, exchanging them in turn with Sam Goodchild in a fierce mano a mano. The damage to the Briton's mainsail and the resistance of Jérémie in the face of the strong depression which swept the fleet at the start of the week allowed him to maintain the lead of this group until the finish.

This night, after crossing the line, Jérémie is still patient. The deliverance will take place this Friday when he will finally be able to go up the channel and set foot on land, normally in the middle of the day. The 48-year-old sailor, who was competing in his 5th Vendée Globe, has now been a “finisher” continuously for three editions (3rd in 2016, 13th in 2020, 4th in 2024).
