Marsa Maroc will invest in the Damerjog oil terminal

Marsa Maroc will invest in Damerjog Oil FZE, which plans to build an oil and gas port on the Gulf of Aden coast of Djibouti, according to a Moroccan government decree. Without revealing the envelope of this investment, the main Moroccan port operator will act through its subsidiary Marsa Maroc International Logistics, to manage the Marsa Djibouti branch and supervise the process, reports the Reuters news agency.

According to the same source, the investment aims to strengthen Marsa Maroc’s presence in East Africa’s logistics supply chains. Marsa Maroc International Logistics, which manages continental expansion projects, also created Marsa Bénin to operate terminals 1 and 5 of the port of Cotonou in Benin.

In June 2024, Marsa Maroc won a contract to operate the container terminal in the Moroccan port of Nador West Med, with a capacity of more than three million twenty-foot equivalent units. Marsa Maroc also manages nine ports nationally, including Tanger Med and Casablanca.
