Marc Ferracci, Minister Delegate for Industry and Energy, is visiting Puy-de-Dôme this Monday, January 6. In the morning he visited the Jacquet factory in Saint-Beauzire, a subsidiary of Limagrain, then he visited the start-up BioUpp, a specialist in renewable energies in Clermont-Ferrand. Marc Ferracci states: “The State is committed by supporting investments. When it comes to sovereignty, we must be at the forefront of innovation. This morning I was on the Limagrain site which has bakery and seed activities. France is the world's leading exporter of agricultural seeds. Limagrain is the leading French player in this sector and this activity. We need to support our actors so that they take their place in the global competition. We need to help them financially, this is what the State is doing, for Limagrain and other stakeholders, to make investments for the future, to improve our food and health security.”.
-The minister wants to encourage young people to pursue these industrial careers: “Today there are 70,000 unfilled positions in the industry. The challenge is to show that industrial professions are not the professions of yesterday. It's no longer Zola, nor Charlie Chaplin with Modern Times. When we visit factories like this morning, we see that the working conditions are good, that there is a concern to improve the well-being of employees at work. (…) We need to tell young people that careers in industry are meaningful. Young people are interested in the idea of giving meaning to their professional lives and to their lives in general. Engaging in industrial activities which are now carbon-free, which do not leave a footprint on the planet, is what many companies do and it is a way of giving meaning”.
Finally, Marc Ferracci discusses the choice of France as a location for industries: “The challenge is to maintain existing jobs on French territory but also to attract the jobs of tomorrow. For 5 years, France has been the most attractive European country for foreign investments. I consider my ministry to be a combat ministry. It's about helping businesses when they have difficulties, and we do it as soon as possible, to find industrial solutions. It's about remaining attractive, while maintaining a tax framework, with the idea of simplifying things. This is how we will maintain industrial employment in France. It is a subject of prosperity, sovereignty and territorial cohesion”.
Accompanied by Yannick Neuder, Minister of Health, he must go this afternoon to the Euroapi (formerly Sanofi) site in Vertolaye, in order to make announcements in the areas of sovereignty in industry, energy, food and health. Marc Ferracci insists: “During COVID, we noticed that we had vulnerabilities, dependencies on the production of medicines that were taking place abroad. Today 40% of medicines consumed in Europe are produced outside Europe and 60% of active ingredients are produced outside Europe. The challenge is to relocate things. For this, we have two approaches. There is first an approach in France, by helping investments and Euroapi benefits from the support of the State. We also have an approach at the European level. We must better protect ourselves against international competition which is often unfair”.
This Monday, the government announced that seven companies will benefit from public funding aimed at relocating the production of essential medicines to France, in addition to the seven projects selected in 2023, for a total amount of 50 million euros within the framework. of the France 2030 plan.
