Less than a month before the start of the 2025 African Nations Championship (CHAN), scheduled from February 1 to 28 and co-organized by Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania, the Senegalese selection is intensifying its preparation to try to win a back-to-back historical. After their coronation in 2023, the local Lions, reigning champions, are setting up a series of friendly matches and training courses to approach the competition in the best possible conditions.
According to information from Wiwsport, the National Technical Directorate (DTN) of Senegal plans to organize at least one friendly match at home to test team cohesion and refine the strategy before the big tournament. Thus, during the week of January 13 to 19, the Lions should face Burkina Faso or Mauritania, with a possible meeting against Guinea. The objective for coach Souleymane Diallo and his staff is to compete against already qualified teams, in order to allow the team to prepare in a context of high competition.
Between January 20 and 26, the Senegalese selection, which recently eliminated Liberia in the last round of qualifying, could participate in a preparation tournament in Ivory Coast, Dubai or Rwanda. A tournament bringing together several teams is being planned, with the aim of allowing the Lions to string together friendly matches and fine-tune the final adjustments. This course will also allow players to familiarize themselves with the conditions of the tournament host countries and strengthen group cohesion before the start of the competition.
