The least we can say is that Jean-Marie Boursier will remember this start of 2025 for a long time. This Sunday, December 29, the man from Issoudun, aged 71, is engaged in a forest road and gets bogged down. At 2 p.m., he alerted the insurance assistance of his vehicle, who were unable to locate him. “He then explains that he cannot get closer to a busy road, because he is quite old.“, explains Lieutenant-Colonel Aude Ponroy of the Indre gendarmerie. The family had in fact told the gendarmes that Jean-Marie Boursier had difficulty getting around on foot. “Our research then begins. We are limited in terms of means, because we cannot have a helicopter due to the weather. We are therefore carrying out research on wheels with the gendarmerie units of the La Châtre gendarmerie company.“, continues the lieutenant-colonel. The gendarmerie is then helped by farmers, hunters and the civil protection of Indre to densify the network, but in vain. The search sector between Châtre, Châteaumeillant, Saint-Août and Saint-Chartier is too large, so it is impossible to organize hunts on foot.

“For three days, Mr. Boursier had been in his vehicle, but had the presence of mind not to move. He was very stuck in a fairly distant forest road.”

The man therefore remained in his vehicle safe and probably relatively warm thanks to the heater in his car. “He was discovered by bike hikers in his car, tired, exhausted, but in good health. He was taken to hospital for check-up, everything is fine, he was reunited with his family“, assures Lieutenant-Colonel Ponroy. It was the family who brought the disappearance of Jean-Marie Boursier to the attention of the gendarmes, who today we imagine relieved by this happy outcome.
