You have to be patient if you want to reach the winter sports resorts of the Northern Alps. Since this morning, the departments of Isère, Savoie and Haute-Savoie have experienced significant disruptions on the roads.

During this cross-country weekend of school holidays, Bison Futé had classified this Saturday, December 28 in orange in the direction of departures in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region. An orange day which turns red in certain areas.

Since early this morning, several roads in Savoie have been congested, notably the A 43 motorway. Over the hours, traffic has increased in the direction of departures towards the winter sports resorts.

Significant slowdowns are expected at the Epine tunnel and La Motte-Servolex as far as the Chambéry urban expressway. Another paralyzed sector: between Montmélian and Chateauneuf towards the Maurienne and Tarentaise valleys.

At midday, Bison Futé recorded more than 60 kilometers of cumulative traffic jams on the A 43 motorway in Savoie but also in Isère. If you are traveling in the -Modane direction, several sections are at a standstill.

In particular, you will have to allow around half an hour to connect Villefontaine and Ruy. Traffic moves at very low speed for around fifteen kilometers. A little further, you will also have to be patient between Saint-Clair-de-la-Tour and Chimilin.

In the metropolis, traffic is also dense. Traffic is saturated on several kilometers of the A 480 motorway as well as towards the Oisans resorts. Nearly 4 kilometers of traffic jams formed near Vizille on the RN85.

After a peak in traffic jams recorded at midday, Haute-Savoie recorded some slowdowns, particularly on the A 40 between Saint-Julien-en-Genevois and Viry. But the department remains relatively spared from traffic disruptions.
