Weather: reaches record rainfall never measured in the capital in 2024

Rain, few Parisians will tell you that we have lacked it during this year 2024: between the great floods of the Seine and a particularly rainy start to summer in May and June, the rainfall in the capital has rarely broke such a record. We take stock together.

And new record has just fallen in and it is not the most joyful: with the drizzle recorded on the night of Tuesday 24 to Wednesday 25 December 2024, the record for rainfall in one year has fallen. Indeed, in 2024, Paris has accumulated no less than 900.9 mm since January 1, 2024a historic record, but above all, placing this last year as the rainiest ever measured in the history of Paris.

In October, Météo announced “one of the rainiest autumns ever recorded in the capital” with, for good reason, the passage of the remains of Hurricane Kirk, triggering more than 70 millimeters of precipitation in a single day. We will also remember the disastrous months of May and June 2024, marked by continuous rain, like the month of July, when rain broke out during the entire opening ceremony of the Olympic Games in Paris 2024.

The previous record dated from 2000, according to TF1 Infos, with 900.8 mm recorded over the year. The year 2024 appears nationally as one of the ten wettest years on recordin addition to being one of the hottest ever recorded. So, as usual, if you are passing through or living in Paris, we can only advise you to think about your umbrella before going out!
