Manchester United's 24-year-old Brazilian winger Antony plans to stay at Old Trafford with Ruben Amorim. This was assured by the player's manager, Júnior Pedroso, in statements to “GiveMeSport” by Fabrizio Romano.
“Yes, several clubs approached us to transfer Antony in January. They wanted to understand Antony's situation, so I can confirm that there is a concrete interest“, began Júnior Pedroso, then guaranteeing that there was no indication from Manchester United to transfer Antony.
“To be honest, Manchester United never showed any interest in selling or loaning Antony. Until now, we have never received this type of communication. Manchester United management never told us that they wanted Antony to leave, despite the information we see circulating about our client“, explained the manager.
“I can say that Antony's future is very linked to the interests of Manchester United. If the club thinks it's a good idea to loan Antony out in January so he can get more playing time and regain his confidence, we will work together on that option. Otherwise, Antony is working hard to regain his place and show his best abilities under the guidance of new coach Ruben Amorim“, assured by Júnior Pedroso.
Revealed in São Paulo in 2018, Antony quickly established himself in the Brazilian club, before joining Ajax in 2020. After three seasons and good performances in Dutch football, Antony attracted the interest of Manchester United. In the 2022/23 season, he started positively in England, with 44 appearances and 8 goals.
But from then on his performance plummeted. This season he has made just 10 appearances – mostly on the substitutes' bench – and has scored just once.
