The biggest festival in the agricultural world returns from January 3 to 12 to Plaine-des-Cafres. On the menu: a large farm, local products, concerts and… the competition for the best pat'cochon curry.
The biggest festival in the Reunion agricultural world is back from January 3 to 12 at Plaine des Cafres. For its 41st edition, Miel Vert uses the recipes for its success: presentation of the sectors, promotion of local products, funfair and eclectic musical programming.

After a shortened 2024 edition due to the arrival of Cyclone Belal, it is the pork sector which will be highlighted this year 2025. “This celebration is to represent Reunionese agriculture, to highlight what we farmers are capable of doing to offer good quality products” summarizes Ludovic Pausé, breeder whose 45 sows give birth to more than 1,000 piglets each year.
At the 23rd kilometer, visitors will be able to discover a real reconstructed farm and enjoy the various activities, in addition to enjoying the productions of several chefs, pastry chefs, confectioners, including some Meilleurs Ouvriers de France.
“Reunionese people will be able to come to the freshness of Les Hauts and taste the different culinary preparations” invites the mayor, Patrice Thien Ah Koon, by announcing a major competition this year: the “the best pat'cochon curry”
A showcase of the dynamism of Reunionese agriculture, which continues despite two complicated last years for the different sectors. “It was very difficult in 2023-2024 for farmers in general, with cyclones, drought, all the administrative difficulties”says Olivier Fontaine, secretary general of the chamber of agriculture. “But the farmers are there, continue to produce, because it is their job”he notes.
Miel Vert will therefore be an opportunity to put aside the difficulties a little, and celebrate around péi products. Election of Miss Plaine des Cafres, senior youth ball and numerous musical evenings are in fact on the program throughout the nine days of the event.
An event that Réunion la 1ère will follow closely, with its mid-day television news presented live every day from the festival site from January 4. Several tens of thousands of visitors are expected at Le Tampon.
