For five years now, as the end-of-year holidays approach, students in 5e Segpa (adapted general and vocational education section) of Pierre-de-Ronsard college are mobilizing to show generosity. A custom that is now passed down from class to class, as their teacher, Hélène Berneron, explains: “Our students move on to classes of 6e to explain to them the action in which they will participate when they are in 5e. We anticipate for next year and we save time. This project makes them work on written and oral skills, as they create posters and disseminate the information to all middle school students. »
180 gift boxes collected for STN
Friday, December 20, the harvest was excellent. Donations from families made it possible to fill 180 boxes with toys, warm clothes, books, hygiene products and treats. The partnership with Solidarité Tours-nord (STN) is only getting stronger. The college students have made it a habit to visit the association, neighboring the college. President Catherine Royo then expressed her gratitude to them.
She was the one who suggested labeling the boxes according to ages. A now well-established practice, which facilitates distributions to families in precarious situations. The young schoolgirl Kella testifies: “I like helping people, it makes me happy to see them happy. I chose to classify the baby boxes because I'm auntie fifteen times. In mine, I added sweet words, little hearts and I wrote “Strength to you!”. »
On behalf of Solidarité Tours-nord and its beneficiaries, Valérie, volunteer at the association, thanks the gestures of all the students and their families: “When we welcome young people to the association, we talk to them about interpersonal skills and volunteering. Volunteering counts on your CV! »
