A 20-year-old young man was seriously injured by a stab wound to the throat on Sunday, December 22, in Bordeaux. The attack happened in broad daylight, around 1:30 p.m., in front of a Carrefour City supermarket, avenue du Parc Lescure, near the Chaban-Delmas stadium.
The young man was going to the house of a relative who lives in the neighborhood and was chatting with homeless people in front of the store, when an altercation broke out between him and an Uber Eats delivery man. A somewhat insistent “hello” and a request for a cigarette from the victim would be at the origin of the dispute.
Severed trachea
According to the testimonies collected at this stage of the investigation, the deliveryman would have, in response, insulted the victim and pulled out a knife, dealing him a first blow to the hand, then a second to the throat which severed the trachea.
The young man was quickly transported to Bordeaux University Hospital where he had to be operated on. “His vital prognosis is no longer in jeopardy, but he is still hospitalized and has not yet been able to be interviewed by investigators, his state of health not allowing this. For the moment, a total incapacity for work (ITT) of twenty-one days has been set. After-effects are not excluded,” specifies the Bordeaux public prosecutor’s office, requested by “Sud Ouest” this Tuesday, December 24.
The alleged perpetrator was arrested at the scene of the attack on Sunday. A knife was found on him. This 29-year-old man, originally from La Réole, was not particularly known to the justice system until now, except for an old small case linked to drug offenses. While in police custody, he allegedly admitted the facts.
This Tuesday, he was referred to the public prosecutor's office which decided to open a judicial investigation for “attempted intentional homicide” and took orders for his placement in pre-trial detention. Entrusted to police officers from the Center division, the investigation is now continuing under the direction of an investigating judge.
