2024, a year of launching projects for inaugurations to come in 2025

Lhe year 2024 in will have been marked by the launch of several major municipal projects, including the future aquatic center. But these were not the only events.

1 A year of construction

Three of the major projects that were launched in 2024 appeared in the program of Claude Olive, mayor of Anglet, during the 2020 municipal elections. Only the reconstruction of the Izadia environmental park building did not appear in this agenda. It had been destroyed by the Pignada fire, which occurred on July 30, 2020. We had to wait for the long time of the legal expertise, then the steps to obtain insurance compensation, before being able to launch the project. Which has been done for several weeks.

The major project of the year is that of the future aquatic center. Started at the beginning of the year, it is now out of water and out of air. This project, worth 26 million euros, constitutes the largest investment in the city's history. It is due to open its doors at the start of the 2025 school year.

The year was also intense for the Quintaou library. It closed its doors on July 1 and its 80,000 documents were moved not far from there, to prefabricated buildings installed on rue Eugène-Bernain. It will remain there until the work on the new media library is completed, scheduled for 2026.

Avenue d'Espagne waited until the end of autumn to begin construction. This involves transforming this road into an urban boulevard, in conjunction with the mobility union, since this section will be used by the future -Hendaye express line.

2 Top nights

With Hervé and Christophe Maé as headliners, the Nocturnes de la Chambre d'Amour were a great success. They will be renewed in 2025. We do not yet know the exact program, other than that there will be an electro evening on Friday with a high-level DJ.

2024 will have been marked by Angélique Cauchy. The tennis player, raped multiple times by her coach when she was a child, began a long journey in Anglet to raise the voice of victims of sexual violence and free their voices, as part of a Health meeting well-being. The one who was placed on leave from National Education, after having taught gym at the Boucau college, returned several times to Anglet, notably in November at the Cantau high school, at the invitation of a teacher in philosophy, Christophe Puyou. A strong moment, which notably allowed students to confide their suffering.
