Cyclone in Mayotte: an exemplary mobilization of the Charles Cros vocational school in , with the sending of 12 m3 of collected goods

Following the devastating passage of Cyclone Chido on the Mayotte archipelago on December 14, 2024, the school set up a donation drive.

A wonderful solidarity mobilization that was implemented by the Charles Cros vocational high school in Carcassonne, to help the victims after the devastating passage of Cyclone Chido on the Mayotte archipelago. From Sunday December 15, 2024, the day after the cyclone, two teachers from the Carcassonne school proposed to organize a collection of donations to help the Mahorais, with a communication which was quickly disseminated to the educational community, but also via social networks.

As of Monday, December 16, a storage space was set up at the high school's CDI, with the help of the librarian professor Ms. Servat. The following day, an unexpected surge of solidarity manifested itself, through a contact received via the social networks of the Charles Cros high school, where the AF Villeneuvois football club from , counting among its members numerous Mahorese families , expressed his wish to contribute. In the process, their donations were quickly delivered, demonstrating exemplary commitment.

The operation finally concluded on Friday December 20, with the loading of two trucks, representing more than 12 m3 of goods collected for Mayotte. This mobilization brought together associations, individuals, and our entire educational community (parents, students, agents, teachers, administration)reacted the provisional deputy of the Charles Cros vocational high school, Julien Vaille. “It illustrates a tremendous surge of solidarity and a collective desire to come to the aid of Mayotte.”
