Since Santa Claus came early to Bourgoin-Jallieu, everyone has been talking about nothing but that: where the dream match between FCBJ and OL will be played out in 16e final of the Coupe de France (January 14, 15 or 16)?
The Pierre-Rajon stadium, the legendary venue for rugby and Football in Nord-Isère, obviously holds the string, especially given its recent past in hosting Olympique Lyonnais matches.

Five friendly matches since 2017: Rajon knows how to welcome OL
This is Rajon's big strong point in this matter: since 2017, the Berjalli stadium has regularly hosted Olympique Lyonnais pre-season meetings.
First Ajax, followed in 2018 by Fulham, Servette in 2019, Bourg-en-Bresse in 2021, Dynamo kyiv in 2022 and Torino last summer. FC Bourgoin-Jallieu is each time in charge in terms of reception, security and even ticketing, in partnership with the City and a private company specializing in the organization of friendly matches. Another element which can play in Rajon's favor: on February 7, 2024, the round of 16 of AS Saint-Priest (National 3) against Valenciennes (Ligue 2) had been relocated to the Berjallien stadium.
In any case, the desire to see this FCBJ-OL being played “at home” is very strong in Bourgoin-Jallieu, in particular to reward the supporters: “What is 100% certain is that we will do everything to ensure that the match is played in Rajon, explains Aurélien Lepretre, Sports Assistant. But a priori it is a committee of the French Football Federation which decides, so as long as we do not have feedback, there remains doubt. »

People flow and security
As of this Monday morning, Djemal Kolver the president and Dylan Rahis the general director of the FCBJ were hard at work organizing this 16e historic and unprecedented final in the history of the club. What's more, against big brother Olympique Lyonnais. They send elements, in particular photographs, to the Federation in order to show that the Pierre-Rajon stadium can be approved for this meeting.
Everything will come down to two key points: managing the flow of people, particularly the Lyon ultras. And security, for example behind the sidelines and when exiting the coaches. According to our information, Olympique Lyonnais has nothing against coming to play at Rajon. Only the FFF has the cards in hand and if it is convinced by the configuration of the stadium, FCBJ-OL will be played at Rajon. Otherwise, the match will be relocated.
What alternatives?
This is the scenario that no one wants to think about in Bourgoin, but it exists. If Pierre-Rajon does not receive approval from football authorities, we will have to think of another playing field. The Stade des Alpes in Grenoble could then become a base.
Another option, the match could take place at Groupama Stadium, the home of OL, like on January 21, 2023 for the meeting between Chambéry SF and Olympique Lyonnais, already in 16e final of the Coupe de France. At the time, the Chambéry Savoie Stadium had not been inaugurated and the Mager stadium (3,000 seats) did not offer the necessary capacity for this type of meeting. In Rajon, since the construction of the new North and South stands and the modernization of the stadium, the official capacity is 6,957 spectators. Which could be enough to receive Lyon.
A definitive response from the FFF is expected this Monday evening or in the following hours.
