As Christmas Eve approaches, there is a nasty surprise for the followers of the church in the Endoume district, in Marseille (7th), a stone's throw from Notre-Dame-de-la-Garde.
A fire, which occurred this Monday, December 23 at the beginning of the afternoon, burned the nativity scene and the figurinesthe firefighters teach us.
A fire destroys the nativity scene and the figurines
The Saint-Eugène Parishlocated rue des Pêcheurs, in the famous Endoume district, saw its nativity scene and its figurines burn.
When contacted, the firefighters confirmed a minor fire, which started early in the afternoon and which was probably due to faulty electrical connections.
On social networks, the news quickly saddened several Internet users. “Disgusted”one despairs, “A Christmas without a nativity scene in a church, it's sadI hope there are no injuries and that we can all make repairs,” writes the other.
No big damage… but cleaning
If no injuries have actually been reported and nothing else has been damaged, cleaning is required.
Tomorrow morning, the volunteers will meet on site, with the aim of “welcoming as many people as possible tomorrow evening”.
