campus. An unexpected Santa brings 25 boxes for poor students

On an initiative from Nicolas Siron, director of the Bureau Veritas company, a new collection of gift boxes was organized for the benefit of underprivileged students, meeting specific criteria such as low personal income, absence of scholarships, real difficulties in eating decently and rejoining their families during this holiday season.

25 boxes collected in Norges-la-Ville

Alex Gabier, company executive and resident of Norges-la-Ville, had no difficulty convincing the Norges animation association and its president Céline Gabier – his wife – to get involved in the solidarity adventure for the second year in a row. The mayor of the town, Denis Mailler, joined the effort by lending the town hall premises to serve as collection points.

In total, 25 boxes were collected in Norges-la-Ville. These were left by Alex Gabier on December 18 at the solidarity grocery store on the university campus, located on the ground floor of the Buffon building. These boxes can contain winter accessories (mittens, hats, etc.), beauty and hygiene products or even books, card games, etc. A word of encouragement is also slipped into the boxes.

Necessary and appreciated help

Agathe Bichebois, geography student and vice-president of the association running the solidarity grocery store, particularly appreciated this sudden help. And to explain: “It complements the food aid offered to our 800 members thanks mainly to donations from the Food Bank. For a few euros, they can obtain a medium basket allowing them to feed and wash for around two weeks. »

For his part, Alex Gabier emphasizes his company's solidarity policy: “We offer our staff, once a year, a paid solidarity day without work. It is up to him to transform this advantage through an act of solidarity without taking into account work relations. »

The solidarity grocery store is part of the Burgundy Inter-Associative Student Federation, bringing together around thirty student aid associations.
