At the Buxerolles pavilion in , Secours Populaire came to the aid of 300 families

A long queue adjoins the Buxerolles pavilion this Thursday, December 19. At the entrance, some of the 110 Secours Populaires volunteers mobilized that day. Some wear a green hat. They enthusiastically welcome and guide the beneficiaries. Between activities, concerts and gift distributions, life is good in the pavilion.

“It warms my heart”

On the occasion of Green Santas, an initiative of Secours Populaire, numerous distributions and other acts of charity are organized in November and December. Today's is one of 25 offered by Secours Populaire in the Haute- department.

“It’s obviously important to help, especially during this holiday season. For example, we distribute gifts to parents and they will give them to their child(ren). We want above all not to “miserabilise” anyone,” explains Thierry Mazabraud, president of Secours Populaire 87.

Beyond the gifts, placed on large stalls, distributions of food products and a solidarity market were deployed. It was also possible to sit down to drink a coffee for example and even to dance, if the resumption of the Where is happiness by Christophe Maé will intoxicate you.

And Nicole, retired and a beneficiary for two years, was no exception. “The Secours Populaire invited us to come today. The atmosphere is great, it warms my heart,” she intones.

Other actions by the end of the year

The volunteers share this festive spirit. They come in, not to sell, but to give, all adorned with a big smile. “Poverty is increasing on the food and social level,” attests Christine, a volunteer for around twenty years. I think it is important to thank the partners and donors without whom this wonderful celebration would not be possible. Donation must be encouraged. And then, of course, we have a thought for the Mahoraises and the Mahorais.”

Secours Populaire will offer other solidarity initiatives. Notably on December 23 at Les Coutures, on the 26th for distribution at the opera, and also on the 26th.
