The Bernese Executive Council made this clarification in response to a question from Socialist MP Maurane Riesen. The elected official from La Neuveville wanted to know if the canton planned to follow organizations, businesses and the “hundreds of thousands” of people who left Elon Musk’s social network.
The MP explains this exodus by the lack of fight against disinformation on this platform. The Bernese State Chancellery notes thatX has certainly lost its importance in the canton's communication systembut adds that target audiences continue to use it “assiduously and frequently”.
In its recently published response, the government recalls that the Chancellery currently uses Instagram, Facebook, Youtube and X in its cantonal information system on social networks.
More and more users are deserting the X network, because they no longer recognize themselves in the values conveyed by the platform. Socialist Federal Councilor Elisabeth Baume-Schneider announced her withdrawal in November, citing an incompatibility between the network and the culture of debate. (ats/vz)
