Currently seventh in the standings, Brest will see at least the Champions League play-offs. Which will not, however, encourage the Breton club to do crazy things during the winter transfer window.
Stade Brestois may have had an exceptional run in the Champions League, but there is no question of the Breton club going up in flames on the transfer market in January. Asked by The Telegramsports director Grégory Lorenzi confirmed that the SB29 would try to strengthen itself in a few positions, particularly in the defensive sector. But to those who think that Brest can target big names thanks to its run in the Champions League, the Breton leader responded in a very straightforward manner.
“In January, it is often an extra transfer window with possibilities for players who need playing time and sometimes lack rhythm. We could also go for players who are not yet ready to be starters but more capable of entering into a rotation and who will be part of the club for the long term. What is certain is that we should not expect bling-bling, we will look for consistency” explained the manager of Stade Brestois, who would particularly like to strengthen the left-back position, lacking the seriously injured holder Bradley Locko. Some reinforcements will therefore be considered in Brest to delight Eric Roy during the end-of-year celebrations. But the current 11th in Ligue 1 will not do anything crazy, despite the significant revenue linked to the Champions League run this season.
