During a press conference at which news Rennes participated, he thus indicated that 22 men, among more arrested, had been identified as alleged perpetrators of violence which shook the Rennes metropolitan area in recent months and incarcerated.

This violence which is hitting the Breton capital is nothing other than the manifestation of drug trafficking which makes the lives of the inhabitants so painful, from the point of view of their security and their integrity.

The prosecutor notes the significant effectiveness of the investigation services in clarifying the violence and identifying its perpetrators: “Police and Gendarmerie collaborated hand in hand with all the services specific to them, and in particular with the field colleagues from BAC and BST. They received support from the national investigation unit, the research section, the technical and scientific police, but also reinforcements from RAID and GIGN. Finally, it is also the mobilization of the JIRS and the entire criminal justice chain that has made it possible to move forward in these cases. »

Which files are affected?

After these preliminary remarks, Frédéric Teillet outlined a whole list of facts among which he was able to announce that of the authors had been identified and arrested. “These arrests led to incarcerations,” he adds.

• July 9: two men were attacked in Rennes, the perpetrator was arrested and indicted.
• During the summer: gunshots, clashes between two groups of armed young people with hidden faces, discoveries of weapons and ammunition… These facts were brought together in the same procedure which resulted in the arrest of ten people and the seizure of weapons. A majority of them will be judged at the beginning of February in immediate appearance with a deferred deadline. In this case, four automatic weapons, four handguns, more than 200 cartridges were discovered.
• September 5: a man died in the city center. Its author was identified, arrested, indicted and placed in pre-trial detention.
• September 23: Gunshots had been heard at Brno alley, in the Maurepas district, plunging its residents into worry. Four authors were tried and incarcerated.
• October 6: an assassination attempt took place on rue de la Soif. On November 1, two men had been arrested and detained.
• October 26: a five-year-old child is shot in the head in the back of a car. The prosecutor mentioned, on December 19, that in total, five authors who were identified and incarcerated. Three were arrested in early December. A 16-year-old minor, who says he was the perpetrator of the shots, was arrested Monday, December 16. A fifth suspect presented himself at the police station on Tuesday.

The majority of individuals are young people, “of different origins” and known for justice services for having already been convicted of drug trafficking or violence.

“It is understand the impatience citizens facing these acts of violence,” explains Frédéric Teillet. But in a certain number of cases, what matters is make solid files which stand up in court, because those involved will dispute much of the evidence. »
