Just open the door and Marcelle, a dachshund with a pretty, shiny coat, rushes over to say hello. The sunhis mistress, created Biche, a “dog shop”, in other words a business dedicated to doggies, rue Jean Jaurès.

But more than a dog accessories store, it is also a place of relaxation for the people of Nantes and their animals, where they can roam freely.

“Trendy but dog-friendly” objects

Aged 28, Solen began her career as aveterinary assistant. Originally from the city of the Dukes of Brittany, she worked for six years at the Nantes veterinary school.

“My mission in the internal medicine department was to supervise technical nursing care with the students and to assist the department’s veterinary heads,” she explains to Nantes news. It was during these years that Solen thinking about opening your own store.

In parallel with her job, for a year, she set up her project. “I learned about entrepreneurship, the business environment was unknown to me,” smiles the young woman. “I still have lots of things to discover! “.

My goal was to open a place where you can find trendy but dog-friendly items from French brands. But also a place where owners and future owners can meet.

The store is therefore separated into three: on one side the dog objectson the other a relaxation area where customers can sit and order a coffee (or a treat for their dog) and at the bottom a “ spa » where owners can groom their pet. “It’s the doggie bathroom!” “.

There is no need to make an appointment, everything is provided (14 euros for small dogs, 19 euros for medium dogs and 24 euros for a large dog). A groomer even comes occasionally (by appointment this time).

A place to share

This principle of interaction between dog owners is the heart of the Biche concept. “You just have to have animal fiber,” she assures with humor.

Solen even brings “animal health workers” such as behaviorists or associations.

Drawing on its past experience, the Nantaise will also organize workshops “to learn how to clean the ears or eyes for example”.

I can give advice, recommendations or even if necessary redirect to a veterinarian. It's not beyond my skills but I can recognize if it's an emergency or not.

Open for only two weeks, Solen already has regulars.Apollowho lives in the neighborhood, often comes with his dog: “It was love at first sight! It's very well thought out, everything is thought out. The fact that Solen is from the veterinary field is also reassuring.”

The “diversity of offer” and the possibility of interacting with other dog owners won her over.

The calm and familiar atmosphere of the store was convincing. The Biche dog shop, as Solen says so well, “is a bit of a doggie paradise”.
