Thaon – SC: Mafouta at the bottom of the hole, Sauvage at fault

Falling again in Thaon while displaying an alarming face (2-1), SC was also weighed down by faulty individuals in both areas. From 2 to 6, discover our ratings after this new failure in the 32nd final of the Coupe de .

Satisfaction

In the Amiens slump, he was one of the only ones to bring danger over time. Lined up in a playmaker position in what most of the time looked like a 4-2-3-1, Nordine Kandil (6) was in the vast majority of Amiens' good moves. He throws the first banderilla (14′) before hitting the bar (18′), then could have been a decisive passer if Louis Mafouta (see below) had managed his face-to-face better (37′), likewise as for Antoine Leautey (45+2′). The latter and Osaze Urhoghide (5), respectively passer and scorer, were certainly decisive, but they did not provide enough and/or reassurance over the duration of the meeting.

He blew hot and cold

For his third start in a row in the first team, Amine Chabane (5) was once again among the best – or the least worst, it depends – from Amiens in the evening. Rarely passing on his right side with good interventions (32′, 35′, 44′), the 18-year-old Moroccan was more discreet offensively. He also pays for his aggressiveness to be welcomed but sometimes dangerous after being warned (22′), reason why he was replaced at the break by Mohamed Jaouab (5) who, if he did not exude exceptional authority, will not have much to complain about in this elimination either.

The disappointments

The dynamic is more worrying than ever for Louis Mafouta (2). Mute in Ligue 2 for two months, the Central African striker did not take advantage of the Coupe de France to reassure himself in front of goals. Worse, he weighed down his team by missing his clearance and offering qualification to Thaon (2-1, 83′). Before that, he had been eminently discreet, touching very few balls and participating only in a famished way in the construction of the game. An observation hardly more rosy in the zone of truth, where he wasted Adem's very good cross Karchi (see below) because of a missed control (3′), until he missed his dribble against the opposing goalkeeper (37′). His completely failed delivery which annihilates an interesting situation (80′) sadly reflects a new match without. Definitely not a success, his only good shot of the match was deflected for a corner by a defender (54').

Goalkeeper chosen by Omar Daf in the Coupe de France and very often impeccable, Alexis Sauvage (3) this time holds a large share of responsibility in the defeat of Amiens SC in Thaon. If he is not helped by delicate weather conditions – heavy and continuous rain – and a soft pitch, his hand fault allows Thaon to equalize as soon as he returns from the locker room (46′). He was not much more reassured about his completely missed clearance, ultimately without consequences (23′). His few rather simple saves (37′, 90+1′) cannot be enough to mask a performance below his usual standard.

More present in this section to talk about his first in the first team than because he was a real disappointment, Adem Karchi (4) still showed what could still separate him from a viable role among the professionals. If his initiative and his personality, with a player who did not hesitate to split and play forward, are commendable, the 18-year-old left back still needs to balance his game, sometimes delaying more and avoiding multiply the long balloons which almost every time landed in the Vosges feet. Note a very good cross poorly controlled by Mafouta (3′), but also poor defense which could have proved fatal (37′).
