Saturday December 14, 2024, Rodolphe Dupuis and Dominique Pazthe couple holding Avenue 21 have left Vaugueux, in the city center of Caen ().

For 14 years, we have lived a lifetime with this restaurant, which we leave with a pang in our hearts. We are very moved.

“A final week full of emotions”

Restaurateurs will have shared great years with their customers. “Some have been there since our beginnings. We witnessed the events of their lives: retirements, birthdays, weddings, etc. » Rodolphe was particularly struck by this Caennais who came for every Valentine's Day. “He met his wife in our restaurant and they celebrated their engagement there,” he remembers, moved. They have since married and are expecting a child. It's an incredible feeling! »

The couple has received a lot of affection since the closure was announced.

It's a week full of emotions. We had a lot of feedback from customers, flowers, gifts, etc. It was a real surprise.

They too are grateful. “We would like to thank all our customers: regulars, lunchtime workers, people passing through. All of our customers have been lovely. »

Goodbye to the beautiful atmosphere of Vaugueux…

Rodolphe and Delphine will not soon forget the very special atmosphere that reigned in Vaugueux. “We shared a real neighborhood life there, a life apart. With our restaurateur neighbors, there was a lot of mutual assistance. » The trials they went through now sound like so many lessons that will have allowed them to evolve. “Covid and the works for example, these are periods which have made us evolve and enriched us. We have developed another approach to restoration. »

What a long way this couple has come in the last 14 years, who took over a couscous restaurant to offer traditional French cuisine.

We also took a big turn with the arrival of our new chef, five years ago: we started selling more than 80% of our products locally and using seasonal products. We plan to stick to it in our new establishment, and even relocate products even further, particularly fish.

“Everything was decided in a week”

Because if the adventure of L'Avenue 21 is over, that of Rodolphe, Dominique, their chef and their pastry chef will continue in Merville-Franceville. At 42 avenue de , they will open L'Atrium in March. And change of life was not planned.

My husband visited the place out of curiosity and fell in love with it. And since someone wanted to buy our premises, we said to ourselves that now was the time. Everything was decided in a week, it was crazy!

Dominic Paz

The couple is delighted to settle in Merville-Franceville, where Madame is from, and where they have always lived with their son. “It’s a real homecoming, and we’ll do fewer kilometers, it will be nice. »
