As lunar as it may seem, the 32nd final of the Coupe de France between Tours FC and Lorient was canceled by the FFF for security reasons.
The safety of spectators could not be ensured 100% according to the French Football Federation, which consequently took the decision to cancel the match counting for the 32nd finals of the Coupe de France between Tours and Lorient. The FFF press release is lunar and clearly embarrasses the Touraine club, because it is rare, if not unprecedented, to see such a situation. Within Tours FC itself, the anger is immense. Coach of the team playing in National 3, the former Lyon and Toulouse striker, Bryan Bergougnoux, expressed his anger and did not hesitate to charge his leaders. “There is a lot of frustration. A player was in tears. I am very, very angry” said the Tours FC coach to RMC before continuing.
“When you want to lead a club, you have to do things to the fullest. The situation is difficult but when you make commitments, you have to keep them. Lost match? There's a good chance… Don't kid yourself. When we are not able to host such an event, we are not part of the project. It's deplorable. We must ask the question to the leaders. We focused on sports. It is the work of a staff that is destroyed, the work of players with an exceptional mentality. We need to ask those concerned. My anger is immense, but I am not responsible for the financier” regretted the coach of Tours FC, disappointed by a situation which shames the club which played in Ligue 2 not so long ago, but whose sporting and administrative decline is highlighted here with this cancellation of the match against Lorient, current leader of Ligue 2.
