New School Tacos – : when disappointment is on the menu

Friday evening is often an opportunity to discover new flavors and enjoy a friendly moment around a good meal. That evening, the team chose New School Tacos, a street food brand located at 21 rue Bossuet in , known for its customizable tacos and modern menus. Unfortunately, between the initial enthusiasm and the actual experience, there was a gap.

An arrival that sets the tone

Upon entering the establishment, we were pleasantly surprised by the provision of toilets for guests, a practical detail often overlooked. But very quickly, this good impression was erased by the questionable cleanliness of the premises. The stained toilet door and their generally dilapidated state gave an unappealing taste of the level of maintenance of the whole thing.

Hygiene in the kitchen that calls out

While waiting for our order, we took advantage of the view of the kitchens to observe the employees preparing. This is where the first questions arose. Only one employee wore gloves, while the others seemed to operate without any particular precautions. When the manager was asked about this, his response was clear: “ Wearing gloves is not mandatory, we ask our employees to wash their hands every 15 minutes. » A reassuring statement in theory, but in practice we didn't see anyone washing their hands during the 20 minutes we spent waiting for our order. Enough to raise legitimate doubts about compliance with hygiene rules.

A disappointment on the plate

Once we collected our dishes, we headed to the editorial office, impatient to enjoy this long-awaited meal. The first disappointment was forgetting the sauces, which were essential to accompany tacos and fries. Regarding the food itself, the results are mixed: if the double tacos were tasty, the fries were soft and bland, and the nuggets were sorely lacking in flavor. An execution far from the promises made by the brand.

The final verdict

New School Tacos in Dijon failed to convince. Although the brand presents an attractive concept on paper, the actual experience is marred by shortcomings in terms of hygiene, service and overall quality of the dishes. For our next culinary outing, we will prefer to explore other addresses in Dijon, where we hope to find a better balance between quality, service and respect for customer expectations. That evening, only the little plastic car from the children's menu was a success. Hopefully next time the whole experience will run as smoothly.
