OTTAWA, Dec. 20 2024 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — CCC is pleased to announce that it has been awarded a contract by the United States Department of Defense (DoD) for an advanced winch system developed by the naval handling company of Rolls-Royce Canada to deploy, tow and recover sonar equipment.
Under the CCC contract, worth up to $110 million, Rolls-Royce Canada will provide the “OK-410 Handling and Stowage Group” system to Naval Undersea Warfare Centre (NUWC) of the United States Navy, as well as spare parts and engineering services. NUWC operates multiple facilities across the United States and plays a critical role in ensuring the U.S. Navy’s technological edge in undersea operations.
The Rolls-Royce Canada winch system is designed to launch, tow and recover the multi-functional towed network (RRM) for the combat system ASW AN/SQQ-89A(V)15. The winch system can support heavy towing loads and incorporates advanced control systems that enable precise maneuvering and positioning of the RRM in the water, which is essential for effective sonar operations.
