The Generation Gender Morocco Coalition presents the results of its study – Today Morocco

The Génération Genre Maroc Coalition presented on Thursday the preliminary results of its study on intergenerational dialogue in the feminist movement and issued several recommendations.

The Generation Gender Morocco Coalition, composed of the Democratic Association of Women of Morocco (ADFM), the Media and Cultures Association (AMC) and the Federation of Women’s Rights Leagues (FLDF), organized Thursday, December 19 in Rabat , a major seminar on intergenerational feminism. This meeting was marked by the presentation of the preliminary results of an exploratory study on “intergenerational dialogue in the feminist movement in Morocco”. This study aims to identify the specificities and means of action of the different waves of the feminist movement in Morocco over the last 30 decades. Led by the Coalition, it highlights the specificities of each generation of feminists, from the pioneers who structured the movement to the connected generation who use the Web and social networks as their main space for mobilization. This study analyzes the points of convergence, such as the fight against patriarchal power, and the divergences between these generations, particularly on the conception of feminism, the integration of young people and the use of new technologies. This study highlights the importance of generational diversity as an asset for the feminist movement. It highlights the need to document and archive past struggles in order to pass them on to younger generations. It advocates continuous dialogue and collaboration between different generations in order to promote an inclusive intergenerational movement and vector of social transformation. Following the discussions and workshops of the seminar, the participants formulated several recommendations for the future of the feminist movement in Morocco. In order to preserve the memory of the movement and ensure its transmission to younger generations, it was considered essential to document and archive the knowledge and experiences of pioneering feminists. Furthermore, the movement must guarantee inclusive representation of all generations and all voices, by promoting the active participation of young women in decision-making bodies. The participants felt that feminist struggles must integrate different forms of oppression and discrimination, adopting an intersectional approach that takes into account the diverse realities and needs of women. It was also recommended that the movement harness the potential of technology to amplify feminist voices, raise awareness and mobilize for change. Finally, the participants considered it essential to encourage exchanges and collaboration between generations of feminists, recognizing the value of their respective experiences and expertise. The Coalition calls on all generations of feminists to actively engage in implementing the recommendations from this event and to join the movement for a more equal future.
