“Buses, a mockery of tourists”

“We made all our trips by train and bus. Buses are a great adventure, a mockery of all tourists.

At station, the reception point is empty on Tuesday December 10. The shuttle exists but nothing indicates where to find it […] ?

“And there, the circus”

Taking a bus to Eguisheim then to Riquewihr is almost a feat. No indication, of course. Then finally, by asking, we reach the right place. And there, the circus. The bus arrives. No luck, we’re too far in the queue to get in. You will have to wait another hour, because there is only a bus every hour. We spend our time explaining the situation to strangers, many of them stuck like us. […].

If in the end the return trip to Eguisheim went pretty well, what can we say about the one to Riquewihr the next day, Wednesday December 11! The first bus passes, we cannot get there. We knew it. The idea was to be at the front of the queue for the next one. The said bus only takes around ten passengers because it has to pick up college students along the way. […]

In Riquewihr, to return in the afternoon, there are only three buses in total. From the start of our walk, we time our visit to be at the bus stop very early. And in fact we will wait three quarters of an hour, in the cold […] Other tourists, foreign and French, proceed like us. Everyone cuts the visit short to make sure they get home without difficulty.

If we liked our discoveries we can only give very negative images of Colmar. Images which run counter to advertisements and communications inviting people to visit Christmas markets.

We want to take money from tourists, but welcoming them properly and comfortably seems incongruous. »
