« In an exceptional situation, an unprecedented gathering is necessary. Perpignan is the only large city managed, poorly managed, by the RN. Perpignan collects the last places. We are a certain number of citizens, community, political and union activists, who want to bring together the entire left to the center to change », explained Xavier Florimond (PS), accompanied by Jean-Baptiste Llati (SR), Françoise Fiter (PC), Jean-Bernard Mathon and Aline Piteux, during the press conference intended to present this December 18 the approach of the Perpignan Otherwise movement. A conference which made it possible to publish the names of the first 111 signatories of the appeal launched around two weeks ago. Among these signatories, a few elected officials from the PS, the PC, Place Publique, the Greens and many people who are not members.
« We want to create a dynamic to bring together all the people and form a collective to launch a program and beat Aliot », specifies Françoise Fiter. “ We are in a dimension that excludes no one. The red line is the RN. » The movement has no head of list. “ It’s a collective, we want to call on collective intelligence » assures Jean-Bernard Mathon. The observation was made that the balance in Perpignan is 30% on the left, 30% on the right and 30% on the extreme right. “ The left perimeter is not sufficient, analyzes Jean-Baptiste Llati. It excludes citizens who share our ideas and whom we do not want to exclude. We want co-construction. Our request is: come and help us co-build. We will not impose anything. And we don’t want to limit ourselves to only following a partisan line. It’s deadly ».
The movement wants to work with people from the center on a program. Contacts have already taken place with Annabelle Brunet and Christophe Euzet, centrist starters already announced for the next municipal elections. The call to support the movement will now be launched on the Internet via the Change.org platform. A progress report will be made in February. An assembly open to signatories will then be organized, with workshops working to define the axes and the program for future municipal elections. It remains to be seen whether the aioli will rise.
The idea of “Perpignan Otherwise” is to create a broad collective dynamic to prepare for the municipal elections of 2026
