Barthélémy Dias is no longer the mayor of the city of Dakar. He was replaced in this position by Ngoné Mbenguehis deputy and currently acting.
“Today, as interim deputy mayor, I will do everything in my power to continue the work. And follow the agenda that the mayor left by focusing on everything that is a priority for the Dakarois,” she said.
As for the meeting of the Municipal Council, scheduled for this Thursday, Ms. Mbengue explained that the prefect of Dakar informed them that the three-day deadline was not respected for the summons.
“The meeting was held, but unfortunately, we were not able to deliver the mail on the same day due to the circumstances. We gave him the letter on the 17th (December) but it was dated on the 16th, the day of the meeting,” she said.
It is now scheduled for next Thursday, December 26.
The Court of Appeal of Dakar for its part set for December 31 the hearing to rule on the revocation of Barthélemy Dias from his functions as mayor of Dakar.
Barthélémy Dias was also stripped of his mandate as deputy at the request of the Ministry of Justice due to a conviction for intentional homicide pronounced in 2017, confirmed on appeal in 2022 and validated by the Supreme Court in 2023.
