The Port of Sept-Îles rewards five university students

Five master’s or doctoral students, whose work focuses on the Bay of Sept-Îles, saw their work rewarded.

The Port of Sept-Îles (PSI) awards scholarships totaling up to $50,000 to the five winners of the EcoZone success awards. The winners were revealed during a ceremony on December 17, 2024 at Laval University.

The five winners are Neha Joshi, Charlène Lefebvre, Sabrina Allard, Lydiane Bélanger and Patricia Cloutier-Maden.

“On behalf of the Port of Sept-Îles, we would like to congratulate the recipients and graduates for their academic perseverance and thank them for the interest shown in one of the most beautiful bays in North America,” says the President and CEO. of the Port of Sept-Îles, Pierre D. Gagnon.

The award of these scholarships comes almost five years after the launch of the Research Chair in Coastal Ecosystems and Port, Industrial and Maritime Activities (EcoZone) by PSI, Laval University and the Nordic Institute for Environmental Research and occupational health (INREST). PSI and INREST then respectively confirmed annual contributions of $100,000 for 5 years to support the establishment and research work of the Chair. The EcoZone Chair consists of improving knowledge on the functioning of coastal ecosystems in industrial and port zones with the aim of identifying practices that will ensure sustainable management of these environments.
