– Shortly after 3 p.m., the city was the scene of a wave of bomb threats targeting three major educational establishments: the Lycée Chevrollier, the Lycée Saint-Benoît (site of the Collegiate Church) and the Lycée Sacré-Cœur . Students and staff were urgently evacuated, plunging these places usually dedicated to education into an atmosphere of tension.

Rapid and orderly evacuations

As soon as the threats were received, the management of the establishments applied their security procedures. Alarms sounded, and hundreds of students were directed to outdoor assembly points, away from buildings. According to a witness present at Lycée Chevrollier, “the evacuation took place without panic, although nervousness was palpable among students and teachers.”

Mobilization of law enforcement

On site, the national police immediately took control of the situation. The buildings of the three high schools are inspected for “a reopening this Friday, December 20 at usual times” announces the Prefect of Maine-et-.

The Public Prosecutor Eric Bouillard has opened a judicial investigation for threat of crime, an offense punishable by 6 months of imprisonment.
