the most beautiful Christmas windows rewarded – M+

Christmas, in , is a Christmas Market which attracts well beyond borders, craftsmanship and delicacy, a unique fabric which makes it famous… But also the now traditional shop window decoration competition , whose winners were rewarded, this Thursday, December 19.

After the VMA volleyball players, the members of the children’s and elders’ councils and even the influencers, they are members of associations in the field of disability and integration (Sinclair, GEM La Navette, Arsea, GEM Evasion, Adapei Papillons whites from Alsace and AVC 68) who were invited to decide between the merchants participating in the Christmas window competition, organized by the City. “We were surprised and honored that disability associations were considered to be part of the jury”explains Michel Heckly, president of France AVC 68. “Disability is not necessarily always shown, adds Joseph Spadaro, president of GEM Evasion. For us, it’s important to be visible: just because we have a disability doesn’t mean we’re different! »

Strengthen attractiveness

“We want to involve part of the population in this competition,” confides the deputy mayor responsible for Commerce, Philippe Trimaille. By inviting these associations to participate, we also send a message: we want our city to be attractive, accessible, but also inclusive! » As for the organization of this competition, the deputy mayor sees it, precisely, as an opportunity to increase the attractiveness of Mulhouse, in a spirit of partnership between the City and traders: “With these decorated windows, each store becomes a Christmas Market chalet. Our ambition is for visitors to go beyond Place de la Réunion and take advantage of our great commercial offer, made up of 70% independents. Commercial attractiveness is a co-production: when the City takes initiatives, merchants get involved, and when merchants take initiatives, the City supports them! »

20 participants, 7 winners

For the 2024 edition of this competition, around twenty merchants responded to the call, giving the members of the jury a hard time, but also Internet users, who were invited to vote online on www.facebook.com, as well as the City’s Commercial Development project manager and the Deputy Mayor for Commerce, who also presented a prize. “The windows were all very beautiful, it was hard to choose”confide Michel Heckly and Joseph Spadaro, who finally set their sights on the window of the Maison MonsieuR boutique, “but it was tight!” » “For us it’s not an effort to put on a window display at Christmas, we do it all year round, with joy”confides Martine Roy, the manager of Parfums, who won the Business Development Project Manager prize. Sandra Martins, the manager of the restaurant Zum Saüwadala, dedicates her third place in this prize to the florist Fleurs et nature by Enzo, who decorated the front of the restaurant and won the second prize for the decoration of her own window and summed up perfectly the spirit of this competition: “A decorated window provides visibility and is important for customers to enter.
