Laura Glass, first deputy, delegate for solidarity and health, presents the Christmas lights in the Machecoul and Saint-Meme-le-Tenu centers which are made from recycled plastic.
They will light up the towns throughout the month of December and until January 5.
How much are the expenses?
“The municipality has estimated electricity consumption at €197 and the number of recycled bottles used at 1,336. In addition, the three citizen workshops “making Christmas decorations” brought together around thirty residents. »

What are the profiles of the participating citizens?
“Some come once, others to one or two workshops! Ages vary between 8 and 80 years old. Entire families came, working people, retired people. »
What are they doing?
“Everyone participates in their own way. There are those who know how to tinker, artists full of ideas, those who have good will! I also have a great team of knitters who used the wool collected in the collection boxes at the town hall and in bubbles and colors to make the snowmen’s scarves and hats. »

Who is behind the creations?
“After establishing the list of projects, we make our choices based on ‘recycled’, since all the materials used are either recycled or green waste from green spaces. This year, for example, someone who was redoing their roof donated old acro boards to us, which were transformed into a Christmas tree! And special mention for the little elves in the flowerbeds of the little meadow, we couldn’t do them last year because we couldn’t get the right branches at the right time.”
Where to find them?
The decorations were installed last Saturday on five sites: the Petit Pré, in front of the La Virgule library, on the gendarmerie roundabout, in front of the Bulles et Couleurs children’s center and in front of the Saint-Meme halls.
