The Corails trains, which have been running on the Intercités Bordeaux-Marseille line for more than 50 years, will soon give way to a new generation of ultra-modern trains. The objective? Meet the expectations of 3 million passengers annually with much more comfortable and efficient Oxygène trains. Scheduled for 2028, this transformation will put an end to an era where comfort and punctuality were notions that were a little too vague.
An aging line getting a makeover
The Bordeaux-Marseille lineoften criticized for its dilapidation and its numerous delays, is finally adopting an ambitious modernization project. The contract is signed for Oxygen oarsa revolutionary model signed by the Spanish company CAF, which will enter service from 2025. This change is essential to restore reliability and comfort to travelers who use this historic line.
State-of-the-art wagons
The Oxygène trains promise a real technological leap. They will be equipped with ergonomic seats, adjustable by hand or by remote controlwith footrest, tablets et integrated reading lights for an optimal travel experience. Passengers will also benefit from ports USB and of electrical outlets at each seatso you never run out of energy.
In addition to the modernization of comfort, spaces will be arranged for bikes and easier access will be provided for people with reduced mobility. The new trains will be able to transport 420 passengers compared to 396 currently and will travel at a maximum speed of 200 km/h.
With a cost of 650 million euros financed by the Statethis project marks a turning point for the Intercités line. It is part of a global plan to modernize the French rail network and improve the quality of service for travelers.
