Press release from the Pablo Neruda college strikers December 18, 2024
We, staff of the Pablo Neruda college in Stains, following our movement yesterday, December 17, where 38 colleagues were on strike, have renewed our movement today in order to organize ourselves, to meet again and to clearly state that the situation cannot continue like this. Around fifteen colleagues were on strike for this second day.
The unhappiness at work, the alarming situation in our college continues and is getting worse today.
- Two colleagues were beaten by a student
- For the second time in two weeks, a fellow education assistant
lost consciousness due to latent tension, overwork and understaffing
of staff
We affirm that it is not possible to return to work under these conditions. We are aware of the inconvenience this involves for students and families, however, we do this in the general interest. The working conditions in the college are harmful for staff and students (management, security problems, violence, professional burnout, etc.).
We are demanding a suspension of classes in the establishment tomorrow Thursday, December 18 to reorganize work in a calm manner and to be able to welcome students in complete safety.
We are ready to continue the movement tomorrow.
