Since its inauguration last April, L’ancre du coeur, a Rouen bookstore dedicated to romance, has enjoyed great success. So much so that the brand managed by Edith Bravard, 24-year-old bookseller, self-trained after a degree in political science, was able to set up a second store at the end of November, this time located in Caen.
“Many customers from Caen traveled to Rouen to attend the signing sessions that I organized in the bookstore”explains to Weekly Books its founder. Faced with this large-scale demand, it therefore decided to open a second store with a candy-pink front, now well identified by customers.
Meetings, thematic evenings and social networks
“The first bookstore is doing very well and the sector is very dynamic so, even if in terms of funds, opening a second store is very expensive, I know that it will at least be able to finance itself,” explains the bookseller. To ensure the smooth running of the two bookstores, whose number of references is around 2,500 titles for sales areas of around 80 m², Édith Bravard has also surrounded herself with a team of five employees, spread across each of them. they.
Above all, the young woman continues to rely on a dynamic that has already proven itself. “We have renewed certain practices that were put in place in the first store, such as the two monthly reading clubs on romance and romanticism”she quotes, also mentioning thematic evenings, the rental of a castle for a ball, or even meetings with famous authors like Lauren Roberts or even Azra Reed.
To remain a unique alternative in the midst of growing competition, L’ ink du coeur also highlights its expertise in the literary genre. First on site, thanks to the advice of booksellers but also on Instagram, where the account dedicated to it brings together a community of more than 15,000 romance fans, closely following the daily life of the brand.
