Around 80 people participated in a public meeting organized by the City of Chartres at the Countesses’ home for all, Wednesday December 18 in the evening.
The mayor of Chartres, Jean-Pierre Gorges, accompanied by his deputy for improving the living environment, Guillaume Bonnet, but also other elected officials such as Richard Lizurey, deputy in charge of security, answered various questions from residents Saint-Brice, Chanzy or Comtesses districts.
Several themes were raised, such as traffic, parking, tree maintenance, transport and even the construction of housing in the city.
Among the first topics discussed, security. A resident, claiming to have been the victim of a burglary at his home near the MPT des Comtesses, rue Georges-Pompidou, asked elected officials if the installation of a video protection camera could be considered in the area, where Other residents also report “incivility”.

Richard Lizurey responded: “This is a possibility that must be studied to target troublemakers. But this requires validation from the departmental video protection commission. » The mayor clarified: “This camera could also be used for prevention. » On this subject, Guillaume Bonnet confirmed that a video protection camera is in service at the corner of Saint-Brice and Victor-Gilbert streets.
Following several questions on traffic and parking, Guillaume Bonnet announced that the streets of Marais and Bas-Bourgs will soon be placed in “paid parking”.
Asked about the Saint-Martin-au-Val church and its surroundings, the mayor specified: “We have a redevelopment project to highlight this building which is older than the cathedral. It will be presented shortly. For the church, the excavations are ending. A first Christmas mass could be celebrated there on December 25, 2025.”
Furthermore, Jean-Pierre Gorges mentioned “a project to install a house for all” in the Saint-Brice sector.
