More staff, more women and persistent salary inequalities… Presented on December 13 to the metropolitan council, the 2023 edition of the single social report of Nantes Métropole reveals a contrasting picture of working conditions within the community.
How many agents work in Nantes metropolis? How much are they paid? Is gender equality applied in practice? Made public last week, the unique social report from the Métropole de Nantes allows us to answer some of these questions.
Since January 1, 2021, the publication of this document has been mandatory. All local authorities and public establishments must establish this compilation of data relating to their human resources each year: jobs, training, remuneration, occupational health. A sort of social barometer which allows us to know a little more about how the workings of the community work.
More and more agents
The evolution has been national since the 2010s: the workforce is increasing in the territorial civil service. In Nantes, more than elsewhere. From 4,263 jobs at the end of 2021 to 4,527 at the end of 2023, Nantes Métropole has therefore created 264 positions in two years, an increase of 6%. This is twice as much as the national average for the territorial civil service (+ 3%). All departments of one of the region’s largest employers are affected by these creations, more particularly category C jobs in the two main sectors: administrative and technical.
The evolution of the workforce is marked by an increase in the number of contract workers in permanent (+11.16%) and non-permanent (+17.39%) jobs.
