Goals: Ben Seghir (53e SP) and Embolo (60e) for ASM // Gifted (24e), Dembélé (64e et 90e+7) and Ramos (83e) for PSG
Despite a response from the Monegasques in the second period, there was no real clash with PSG, clearly superior to the locals (2-4), whom they will meet again in January, for the Champions Trophy. Despite several facts of the game, Parisian success in princely land cannot be disputed.
Scarface
The game starts off with a bang, in the wake of Achraf Hakimi, the cornerstone of Luis Enrique, who escaped on the right side. His missed cross hits the post of Philipp Köhn (4e), yet beaten. Bradley Barcola is not to be outdone, but the German goalkeeper stands in his way straight away (5e). Monaco’s response was not long in coming: striking full axis, Eliesse Ben Seghir fired a shot from 20 meters, whose floating trajectory was repelled with his fists by Gianluigi Donnarumma (8e).
Dangerous on the counter but not necessarily skillful, the Rocher players leave their mark in the Parisian area: Wilfried Singo completely misses his dive after a long run on the right, then unintentionally collides « Gigio »at the same time wiping the crampons on his right cheek (18e). Bloodied, the Italian goalkeeper is forced to give up his place to Matvey Safonov. Already warned, Singo miraculously escapes capital punishment. After the incomprehension in the Parisian camp, Désiré Doué launched hostilities and unlocked his counter in Ligue 1, well served behind by Hakimi, untenable. His cross strike leaves no room for interpretation (0-1, 24e). Parisian domination could have materialized even more if Köhn had not been vigilant about an unfortunate deviation from Mohammed Salisu, towards his goal (43e).
Action, reaction
Although also deprived of the ball after returning from the locker room, ASM will benefit from a recovery error from Marquinhos, exploited by Maghnes Akliouche. Launched at full speed towards the Parisian surface, the international hopefuls sees his shot (blocked by Willian Pacho) bounce off the arm of the Parisian captain. Ben Seghir does not need to be asked to open his foot and deceive Safonov (1-1, 53e), with the help of the right post. Exhilarated, Adi Hütter’s players don’t stop there. On a quick transition, Akliouche takes advantage of a long pass from Aleksandr Golovin and drops Marquinhos, before crossing with first intention. Breel Embolo breaks away and uncrosses on a wire in front of Safonov and Pacho, late (2-1, 60e). The joy of the Asemists is short-lived, since Paris gets back on the right path (of the nets): Fabian Ruiz’s rebound shot is modestly repelled by Köhn into the feet of Ousmane Dembélé, who pushes the ball deep (2-2, 64e).
From one surface to another, without any downtime, the leader and the third now fight blow for blow. In this little game, Gonçalo Ramos shines on his first ball. Lee Kang-in’s brushed corner ends on the stone of the Portuguese center forward, perfectly thrown in front of Thilo Kehrer, at the entrance to the six meters (2-3, 83e). PSG could have definitively taken shelter on a cross bag from Lee, but Köhn relaxes and deflects the ball which dies on the German’s post (90e+2). It was only postponed, despite Monegasque complaints, following a poorly controlled tackle by Lucas Hernandez on Embolo in the opposing area. Starting on the edge of offside, at the halfway line, Dembélé resists Singo and lobs Köhn, to seal the victory (2-4, 90e+7). 8 goals, casually, for “ the Mosquito.” With 10 points ahead of OM and Monaco, the Parisians are unplayable in Ligue 1.
