The long-awaited village hall in the neighborhood has been inaugurated.
Saturday was a big day for Asso Verlhaguet which attended, with some of its 120 or so members, the inauguration of the new Verlhaguet village hall.
A former neighborhood school until the 1960s, the room and accommodation were entrusted to the association for its meetings and events. Several years of repeated requests from residents led to the renovation work and the inauguration of this very beautiful room.
Among the guests of Marie-Claude Berly, mayor of Montauban and Jean-Pierre Foissac, deputy mayor who followed the work, we noted the presence of MP Brigitte Barèges and the mayors of Lacourt-Saint-Pierre and Reyniès.
Also present were the three district deputies, Jean-Pierre Foissac, already mentioned, Laurence Pagès and Quentin Sucau and several residents of the district who also came to attend this event.
After cutting the tricolor ribbon, the elected officials headed towards the pétanque court built under management, like everything else, by municipal services.
Started during the summer of 2023, the work was recently completed, taking into account security, as this room runs along the busy Auch road. The room, with a surface area of 100 m², is completed by a refreshment area, an office, a storage space and an association office.
Which enchanted Alain Nègre, the president of Asso Verlhaguet. “Our association, created in 2007, needed such a location to organize events for its 120 members because there is nothing else in this rural area.” He thanked “the town hall and the architects who have designed this place with great taste”.
