: the big Christmas parade canceled a second time due to the mistral –

Clearly, the mistral has decided to do everything to prevent the Christmas parade from taking place this year in . After a first cancellation on Saturday December 7 already due to strong winds, the Christmas parade was postponed to Friday December 20. But it’s the same scenario happening again, and even worse: Météo announces a stormy mistral this Friday afternoon in Marseille. It could blow up to 95 km/h.

It is therefore impossible to maintain this event in the Old Port and the parade is therefore canceled Friday evening. It is therefore a common sense measure given the risks to the public, and due to light floats and other structures sensitive to wind.

It is also very likely that other measures could be put in place to protect the population, such as closing parks and gardens.

The uncertainty now concerns the events organized this Saturday evening in Marseille: a fireworks display with drone and laser show. The wind could be a little weaker on Saturday evening, but Météo France still announces gusts of 45km/h. The weather for the withdrawal date, which would be Sunday evening, is even worse with rain and a mistral which could blow at 60km/h.

However, many other events will continue this weekend in Marseille.
