“They are particularly planned on the ground floor and for improved accessibility. We aim to open the bar at the end of April-beginning of May, before Gulf Week. The other activities will then open in stages until the end of August,” explains Laurent Sanchez, one of the team members.

Wine bar, tea room, street food

Among the new features, a catering section, which did not exist at the Brief, will be offered to the general public. “It will be street food, not fast food, with a menu system that will change regularly. We want to offer fresh, local products and creative dishes. This will be a counter service offering with very low prices. We want there to be the notion of consumables that do not generate too much waste,” explains Pierre Boloré, member of the team and catering professional. “On the ground floor, more intimate spaces will be created for a tea room and a wine bar,” he adds.

Culture on all levels

In this project with an essentially cultural vocation, there will be a small theater on the ground floor, with around fifty seats. “It will have the dual vocation of practicing performing arts and we have signed a partnership with Cinscreen. We hope to open it at the beginning of September and we will of course welcome school children,” rejoices Laurent Sanchez.

“We want culture on all levels. We rely on the best of Dédale’s experiences for immersive exhibitions, and of Brief for artist residencies in order to create a multidisciplinary place, reinforce the intergenerational character and social uniqueness. It’s fundamental for us,” assures Laurent Sanchez.

30 artist residency workshops

On the first floor, we will find immersive exhibitions, “with the notion of keeping things free. » On the second floor, there will be artist residency workshops. “With a theme which is that of professionalization. We are going to tear down partitions which will make it possible to accommodate thirty artists, twenty of whom are on short leases, probably one year maximum, and ten workshops for artists who already have a professional activity, for a moderate rent to cover expenses. They will also be able to benefit from a co-living space. »

The staff of the Brief preserved

Laurent Sanchez also confirmed that all of the Brief staff have been taken on. “When all activities are operational, there will be up to 19 employees. We will also welcome work-study students and extras in the summer. » As for the facade of La Traverse, Laurent Sanchez announces that it will not be changed. “This is not current, the third place is in a protected area. But it’s still possible later. »
